Our new home has a couple of rentals
still contracted so Katreena, the kids and I sailed south to check
out St. Croix. Bumpy cruise but nice weather. Tucked into a slip
at St. Croix Marine. Nice spot, close to town, shops, etc. |

Strolled into Christensted to visit
the shops, restaurants. Explored Fort Christiansvaern. Great fun. |

Rented a car and explored the island.
Lovely rainforest and huge valley. Island feels much larger than
it is, with mountains, plains, busy streets and open ranchland.
Spectacular vista at east end of island. Even drove on the only
freeway in the Virgin Islands. Made a quick stop in Frederiksted
but it was nearly deserted due to the absence of cruise ships.
Beautiful harbor. |

Sailed into Lameshur Bay, hooked a
park mooring and did some snorkeling. Needed a secluded spot for
awhile and found it. |

Time to haul L. Moon out for hurricane
season. Only means available is a hydraulic trailer. I got L. Moon
as close to shore as possible and they backed a trailer into the
water under her. They then lifted her out (precariously) and hauled
her to her resting spot. Did some prep work for new engines while
she rested. |

Rented a car and headed for Old San
Juan. Election coming up along with holidays and there was no convenient
place to park. Strolled a bit but Katreena's back was killing her
on the hard streets so we headed back. |

Happy New Year at Puerto Del Rey Marina.
Can see some fireworks on the horizon. The babies are pretty small
but having a ball. Only have to walk a mile every few hours for
potty time. |
