1/1/01 Mon       Puerto Del Rey, Puerto Rico Lazy New Year's Day.
1/2/01 Tue         Rented a van and took all four puppies on an inland voyage. PR is a huge island. Could never see more than a fraction in one day. Beautiful scenery, great rainforests, quaint little country villages, (almost impassable at times). Our exploration was limited by having four wild pups so we drove more than strolled.
1/3/01 Wed         Drove into San Juan to do some shopping at Home Depot and Sam's Club. L. Moon is going to be a cargo vessel on her return home.
1/4/01 Thu         Working hard at not working hard.
1/5/01 Fri         This not working stuff is so nice I'm tempted to join a union so I can get paid for it. 1/6/01
1/6/01 Sat 39.6 6.2 6.4 Crown Bay, St. Thomas, USVI Returning from our New Year's cruise to Puerto Rico. Lunch at Tickles and a lazy day. 1/7/01
1/7/01 Sun         Another lazy day in paradise 1/8/01
1/8/01 Mon 18.3 3.0 6.1 Coral Bay, St. John, USVI We picked up the Suzuki from being serviced and Katreena headed for home with the Cockers. Shadow and I continued on home alone. Seas rough but weather clear and bright.

Coral Bay, St. John, USVI Departure Port 1/30/01
1/30/01 Tue 8.5 1.3 6.5 West End, Tortola, BVI Friend Brad Rich and his San Diego lady friends joined us for a short cruise of the BVI's. Sailed over to Soper's Hole for C&I and decided to stick around for Pussers all-you-can-eat shrimp feast. Girls are already restless for "action" but nothing much here.  1/31/01
1/31/01 Wed 11.6 1.8 6.6 Cooper Island, BVI Nice cruise over to Cooper Island Beach Club. Early enough not to battle for moorings. Great snorkeling run followed by grog, grub and a great sunset. 2/1/01
2/1/01 Thu 4.9 0.8 6.5 The Baths, Virgin Gorda, BVI Daysail up to the Baths. Crowded, seas rough and tough landing. I stayed aboard to chill while the crew enjoyed the beach.
2/1/01   20.0 3.0 6.7 Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke, BVI After a light lunch we set the spinnaker for a long run to Jost. Spinnaker all the way, tight gybe through Thatch Island Cut. Hook set and dinner at Rudy's. Great as usual. Then drinks and entertainment at Foxy's. 2/2/01
2/2/01 Fri 16.9 2.7 6.3 Crown Bay, St. Thomas, USVI Great sail back to Crown Bay to simplify departure for flights out. Dinner, drinks and entertainment at the Green House.
2/3/01 Sat         Katreena headed home to tend to the pups. The four of us ate at Fujiama, cocktailed at the Hard Rock. Brad and I retired to L. Moon for Scotch and cigars while the ladies headed for Red Hook to party. Too much of nothing for these SoCal girls. 2/4/01
2/4/01 Sun 18.3 3.0 6.1 Coral Bay, St. John, USVI Brad and company headed for the airport and I headed for home. Another nice cruise comes to an end.

4/6/01 Fri 12.8 2.0 6.4 Francis Bay, St. John, USVI Weekend Easter sail with puppies. Wasn't prepared for PR "Navy" (hundreds of families aboard power boats from Puerto Rico). Leinster Bay was our primary objective but it was jam-packed. Found some anchoring room in Francis Bay and hung out there. Never left the boat
4/7/01 Sat         Lazy day afloat. 4/8/01
4/8/01 Sun 12.5 2.0 6.3 Coral Bay, St. John, USVI Easy cruise home to the other side of the island.

5/18/01 Fri 94.2 14.5 6.5 Simpson Bay, St. Maarten Overnight sail, with a goal of making the 0900 opening of bridge. Winds were unusually favorable and we were able to sail most of the way, with pleasant seas. Made the opeing with a half hour to spare. Tucked into Simpson Bay Yacht Club Marina. Nice marina with great dog walk area and nearby restaurants..
5/19/01 Sat         Rented a car and explored the island. Left Shadow and Honey with Gloria and just brought Coco and Callie. Took them to Long Beach for a great run. They had a ball.
5/20/01 Sun         More exploration, dining and shopping. Circled the island, checked out the extensive development since my last visit in 1989.
5/21/01 Mon         A week of dining, drinking, puppy walking and exploring.
5/26/01 Sat         Time to leave. Rigged the spinnaker for a sunset departure. Beautiful night and pleasant sail all the way home. 5/26/01
5/27/01 Sun 94.2 13.3 7.1 Coral Bay, St. John, USVI Arrived safe and sound.

7/1/01 Mon 17.3 3.3 5.2 Puerto Del Rey, Puerto Rico Upsy-daisy. L. Moon is now out of the water until October, but I'll be back to tend to her regularly.
